What are these "Learning Programmes"?

Vuna works to facilitate the following types of learning programmes:

1. Learnerships

Learnerships are a combination of on-the-job-training at an employer, and formal classroom instruction, that leads to a nationally recognised qualification. These programmes are similar to apprenticeships, but are not limited to traditional trades and do not require the learner to pass a trade exam. They generally take a year to complete. These types of programmes can cover a wide variety of jobs and entry requirements vary greatly.  

Examples: Pharmacy Assistant, Web developer,  Office Administrator, Traffic Officer

2. Internships

Internships are learning programmes for graduates (i.e. those with a degree or diploma) who do not yet have practical work experience. These programmes are designed to give the workers the chance to apply their theoretical knowledge and to get valuable on-the-job work experience.  These programmes are generally 6 months to a year long. 

Examples: Project manager, Digital marketer, Electrical engineer, Payroll accountant

3. Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are a combination of on-the-job-training and related classroom instruction, in which apprentices learn the practical and theoretical aspects of a trade.  The learner is taught a trade, must pass a trade exam and is then qualified as an artisan in that trade. 

Examples: Welders, Plumbers, Fitters, Plasterers and Mechanics
